What needs to be done? We need to accept the reality that remote deal making and the accelerated momentum in Europe further accentuated existing biases as capital continues to chase the few lucky founders with “big CVs”. We need to accept that rebuilding a VC firm through hiring diverse talent requires tough choices, but, fundamentally, there is no alternative if a venture firm wants to stay relevant in the 21st century. And we need to start enjoying the amazing personal benefits of working with people that have different backgrounds and perspectives. We already know it’s good for business — all data points to and proves it — now we need to move out of our own comfort zones and put it into practice.
